Marie A. Corliss, Esq., received her bachelors in philosophy at Fordham University in 1982. She then went on to Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Yeshiva University where she earned her J.D. in 1985.
While at Cardozo, she was the International Law Review Articles Editor, and a member of the Regional Champion Moot Court Team. Upon graduation, Marie was admitted to the practice of Law in New York.
Marie began her career with the Bronx District Attorney’s Office, in the Appeals Bureau where she concentrated on research, legal writing, and oral arguments. Later, she gained intensive trial experience prosecuting burglary, robbery, and perpetrators of Special Victims, including child and elder abuse.
During the years raising her family, Marie worked part-time on criminal appeals, and as counsel to nursing homes. In 2004, she worked for Vincent Russo and Associates before moving on to Covey, Roberts, Corliss, and Carmody-Roberts in Katonah, NY, where she became a partner focusing exclusively in the area of Elder Law.
In 2011, Marie Corliss established the Corliss Law Group, which has two offices on the East and West Sides of Northern Westchester, in addition to her Manhattan office, where she also sees many clients. The Corliss Law Group is entirely devoted to the fields of Estate Planning and Elder Law. Individual attention to each client’s unique needs and goals is of paramount importance.
Marie A. Corliss, Esq. is a member of the Board of Directors of the Putnam County Estate Planning Council, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, New York State Bar Association, Westchester Bar Association, Westchester Women’s Bar Association, and Northern Westchester Bar Association. She is also a frequent lecturer on Estate Planning and Medicaid Planning.
Alyssa Guarino, Esq., is an associate attorney with Corliss Law Group. Prior to law school, Alyssa received her bachelor’s degree in political science from the State University of New York at Geneseo in 2007. She attended Stony Brook University where she obtained her Masters in Business Administration in both Marketing and Human Resources in 2009. She completed her higher education in 2013, by distinguishing herself, Manga Cum Laude at Touro Law School, where she earned her Juris Doctor. At Touro Law School, Alyssa participated in the Elder Law Clinic, where she assisted clients in Estate Planning and Guardianship matters. Alyssa was also the Vice President of the Touro Law Elder Law, Trusts and Estates Association. Upon graduating from Touro Law School, Alyssa was admitted to the practice of law in New York and New Jersey. Alyssa is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
Cara Morea, Esq., received her Bachelor of Business Administration, cum laude, from Pace University in 1995. Immediately upon her graduation, Cara was employed by the accounting firm of Coopers and Lybrand as an auditor. She then received her Juris Doctorate from St. John’s University School of Law in 2000, graduating cum laude and within the top 10% of her class. At St. John’s, Cara was the Associate Managing Editor of the American Bankruptcy Journal Law Review. Cara was also a recipient of the St. John’s University School of Law Merit Scholarship. Cara has experience in the area of Tax Law, and currently her practice includes Estate Planning and Elder Law. Cara is admitted to the New York and Connecticut Bar, and is a Certified Public Accountant in New York State (non-practicing status).
Sarah Irwin holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana. She graduated from Saint Mary’s College Manga Cum Laude with a degree in Economics in 1996. She received her Masters in Education, with a concentration in elementary education, from Boston College in 1998. Sarah taught for seven years at both the elementary and middle school level in both the United States and in the Cayman Islands. Sarah began working at the Corliss Law Group in 2013. She works as a Medicaid paralegal. Sarah prepares and submits Medicaid Applications for the practice.
Allison Mizroch holds a Bachelor of Arts from the State University of New York in New Paltz, located in New Paltz, New York. She graduated from SUNY New Paltz cum laude with a degree in Psychology in 2001. She received her Masters in Education from Mercy College, located in Dobbs Ferry, New York, in 2006. She graduated from Mercy College summa cum laude with a degree in School Psychology in 2006. Allison has held many executive assistant and office manager positions between 2006 and 2014. Allison began working at the Corliss Law Group in 2014. She works as an estate planning paralegal. Allison drafts estate planning documents and contributes to other various matters for the practice.
